As a sportboat, small boat or performance dinghy sailor you need accurate, easy to read, real-time speed, heading and VMG data just as badly as anyone on a large keelboat. Downwind you probably need this information even more than someone sailing a displacement hull. Why don't you have the real-time data you need? At Velocitek, we're guessing it's because you cannot justify adding several kilograms and a couple thousand dollars to your boat. Not to mention the headache of having to bore a hole through your hull to install a speed transducer.
The Velocitek SC-1 GPS changes everything. This device gives you all the information you need to trim for optimal VMG and make sound tactical decisions. All this functionality is contained in one lightweight, bombproof, watertight box that you can install in under a minute. This massive step forward is made possible by recent improvements in civilian GPS technology. At the heart of the Velocitek SC-1 GPS is a state-of-the art UBlox Antaris LEA-4A 16 channel GPS chipset. Designed for luxury automotive navigation systems, this chipset calculates super-accurate position-velocity-time GPS solutions at an unprecedented rate of four times per second. The end result is that you now have all the real-time information you need to sail faster and win.
As an added bonus the Velocitek SC-1 GPS keeps a rolling 40 hour log of all that precious real-time information, allowing you to download it to your windows PC through a standard USB cable. This allows you to use popular replay and track display applications like Kattack, GPS Action Replay and Google Earth to carefully review and analyze your performance in a low-stress dry land environment. You can also combine your data with other boats in your fleet to replay complete races.
Also, unlike almost any other product, the Velocitek SC-1 GPS will work better the longer you own it. This is possible because we designed the firmware that controls how the Velocitek SC1 operates so that it can be easily updated through the device's USB port. Every three months we will release new firmware versions that you will be able to download from our website. These upgrades will allow us to optimize the device's operating modes and user interface algorithms based on feedback and ideas from our customers. The Velocitek SC-1's updateable firmware will make it possible for you to enjoy the fruits of Velocitek's intensive R&D program on an ongoing basis.

New software provides easy downloading, editing and managing of races logged on multiple devices
Paia, Maui (June 5, 2008) - After more than a year of planning and development, today Velocitek released Version 3.0 of the Velocitek Control Center - a fantastic leap forward in race replay capability. Users will now be able to download, manage and play back information from multiple devices at once, allowing them to easily recreate races and training sessions involving multiple boats.
"While some great technical race analysis software has existed to date there has been no simple solution which allowed users to easily download, edit, combine and store race replays from a large group of boats - I am excited that we have been able to achieve this with the Velocitek Control Center 3.0" - Alec Stewart, President and Founder Velocitek.
The built-in race editor and creator allows the combining of multiple Velocitek GPS tracks into one replay which can easily be edited and replayed in the Race Player or exported to other GPS track analysis programs such as Google Earth or GPS Action Replay. This new feature makes it possible for a whole fleet to review their racing and training sessions - every tack, wind shift and change in boat speed! To see this in action, check out the demo video at: www.velocitek.com/video/VCC_3-0_Demo/VCC_3-0_Demo.htm
Screenshots of Velocitek Control Center 3.0 are available here: www.velocitek.com/images/Multiple_Device_Data_Capture.jpg and here: www.velocitek.com/images/Replay_Editor.jpg
As an added bonus, Velocitek also offers users the opportunity to publish their race or training sessions online, so anyone can watch and comment on the action. All sailors need to do is submit their Velocitek replay track files via email and Velocitek does the rest, compiling and publishing the tracks online at their race replay forum.
