This massive step forward is made possible by recent improvements in civilian GPS technology. At the heart of the Velocitek SC-1 GPS is a state-of-the art UBlox Antaris LEA-4A 16 channel GPS chipset. Designed for luxury automotive navigation systems, this chipset calculates super-accurate position-velocity-time GPS solutions at an unprecedented rate of four times per second. The end result is that you now have all the real-time information you need to sail faster and win.
As an added bonus the Velocitek SC-1 GPS keeps a rolling 40 hour log of all that precious real-time information, allowing you to download it to your windows PC through a standard USB cable. This allows you to use popular replay and track display applications like Kattack, GPS Action Replay and Google Earth to carefully review and analyze your performance in a low-stress dry land environment. You can also combine your data with other boats in your fleet to replay complete races.
Also, unlike almost any other product, the Velocitek SC-1 GPS will work better the longer you own it. This is possible because we designed the firmware that controls how the Velocitek SC1 operates so that it can be easily updated through the device's USB port. Every three months we will release new firmware versions that you will be able to download from our website. These upgrades will allow us to optimize the device's operating modes and user interface algorithms based on feedback and ideas from our customers. The Velocitek SC-1's updateable firmware will make it possible for you to enjoy the fruits of Velocitek's intensive R&D program on an ongoing basis.
